With a major portion of the first half of 2010 coming to an end, Bollywood seems to be going through its worse phase with just a handful of successes. In fact the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer, MY NAME IS KHAN is the only universal hit of the year so far, with ISHQIYA, LOVE SEX AUR DHOKHA and ATITHI TUM KAB JAOGE? turning out to be above average grossers. Last year it was pretty much the same but it was the producers-multiplexes imbroglio which was held responsible for the dismal box-office performance of the films released during that phase.
RAAJNEETI, RAAVAN, HOUSEFULL and KITES
However, with the dreaded IPL over and holiday season starting, things are certainly looking much brighter with big releases lined up during the months of April, May and June. Of course, it will be the 'Khiladi' who will battle the odds first with his HOUSEFULL that is sure to open to houseful theaters on 30th April when it releases all over.
Come 21st May, amidst the scorching summer heat, the audience will surely witness the hottest film of 2010, Hrithik Roshan-Barbara Mori's international project, the much anticipated KITES. The big budget extravaganza is sure to set the box office on fire as it brings back super hero, Hrithik Roshan, after a gap of almost two years.
Two weeks later, 4th June to be precise, is marked for the release of perhaps the biggest multi-starrer of the year, Prakash Jha's political thriller drama, RAAJNEETI, starring the likes of Ajay Devgan, Katrina Kaif, Nana Patekar, Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal . RAAJNEETI is another film that is expected to rake in the moolah and bring Bollywood back on its feet.
And last but not the least is Mani Ratnam's epic saga, RAAVAN, which is all set to release on 18th June all over. Starring the hot and happening real life pair of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and the superstar from South, Vikram, along with Govinda, the first promo of the film has already generated enough curiosity amongst the audience and its easy to predict that RAAVAN will surely set the cash registers ringing worldwide when it releases all over on 18th June.
Here's hoping that the four hopes of Bollywood, HOUSEFULL, KITES, RAAJNEETI and RAAVAN get the deserved and expected success.
