Documentary film-maker and national award winner, Sudipto Sen?s feature film debut as a director, THE LAST MONK, has been invited to four international film festivals, this inspite of the fact that the first print of the film is yet to be released. The English film, which has been shot in the breath taking locales of Ladakh explores the subject of cultural Buddhism through the picturesque landscape of Ladakh and portrays a radical understanding of male-female relationship, sexuality and beyond.
The film stars Rachna Shah, who has worked with several acclaimed directors in the south and the east including Sonu Sisupal (Kaalachakram, Tamil), Santosh Sivan (Navrasa) and Ashok Vishwanathan's Andhkaroor Shabd ? Sounds of Darkness (Bengali).
Well known theatre actor and model Jimeesh Gandhi plays Pushkar, the material strength of Swapna.
Sonam Stobgias Gorky, from NSD, plays Sonik, the main protagonist of the film.
