Now she is back with her second film in just a little over a month with the release of GULAAL. Apparently, she has a special appearance in the film, albeit an important one, where she gets to play a character that has variety of shades to it, one of which is that of (seemingly) a courtesan, courtesy the mujra track 'Ranaji'.

''No, I am not exactly a courtesan in GULAAL'', protests Maahi who has now worked in two back to back films directed by Anurag Kashyap, ''I play a woman who is a mistress of Kay Kay Menon. This is the character of a girl who wanted to be an actor but could never become one. Unsuccessful, she goes on to run a beauty parlor. Meanwhile, depending upon Kay Kay's 'farmaaish', she also performs an occasional 'mujra' for him!''
One must say that's quite a unique professional life that this character lives in GULAAL. Coming to the mujra tracks, Maahi gets to perform on two of them - 'Chakmak' and of course 'Ranaji'.
'''Chakmak' is not yet on air but it's a personal favorite as well. It is an authentic track as it stays rooted as per the mood and flavour of the film's subject and it's setting'', says Maahi who has begun her Bollywood career with both the films being set in a small town.
''As an actor I want to do all kind of roles though. Come on, I like running around the trees as well. Anyone listening'', quips Maahi!
