Lead actor Shahrukh Khan has gone on record saying that there is no need to postpone Ajay Devgn's SON OF SARDAAR, as a mark of respect to the late Yash Chopra, whose last film, JAB TAK HAI JAAN, releases alongside SOS on Diwali. SRK has even gone ahead to say that even if Yash Chopra was alive today he would have been happy to see both the film succeeding simultaneously.

However, there is news in certain section of the media that people connected with SOS are being pressurized to postpone the film due to the untimely death of Yash Chopra. But that is not the case and even if there is even an iota of truth in the canard, there is absolutely no need for such a step.

A huge section of the film fraternity feels that it would be very insulting for the memory of a filmmaker of the caliber of Yash Chopra to assume that his latest endeavour, JAB TAK HAI JAAN, cannot withstand competition and would need SON OF SARDAR to bow out of the race in order to become a big hit. And even if SOS does stay clear and JTHJ turns out to be big hit, its success would be tainted, and that would certainly not be liked by even late Yash ji himself, who never shied away from challenges.

Some others are of the view that even if JAB TAK HAI JAAN does not do as well as expected and SOS cuts into its business drastically, it would hardly matter, because Yash Chopra is a legend and nothing can affect his reputation as the king of romance and one of the greatest filmmakers ever.

All we can say is, let us hope for the sake of the film industry that on the occasion of Diwali, and with the blessings of Goddess Laxmi, both the films rake in the moolah, so that the festival of lights indeed turns out to be memorable one for the film industry!
