The film industry has come out in unanimous support to Anupam Kher's cause with Pahlaj Nihalani, President of A.M.P.T.P.P (Association of Motion Pictures and Television Program Producers), sending a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, I & B Minister, Jaipal Reddy, and I & B secretary, Naveen Chawla, asking them to re-consider the decision of Anupam Kher's dismissal as C.B.F.C. Chairman.

The letter says that the industry is deeply aggrieved with the decision to remove Anupam Kher, pointing out that he has proficiently performed his duties as Chairman of Censor Board of Film Certification.

The letter reads, "It clearly shows that his removal is due to extraneous political pressure and is thus unjustified, uncalled for and unwarranted, which can prove detrimental to the unity of the film Industry as a whole. You will appreciate that the appointments to such esteemed bodies should be apolitical," it adds, suggesting that the Chairpersons of all organizations connected with the Entertainment Industry including the N.F.D.C., C.B.F.C., C.F.S.C and F.T.I.I. should be representatives of the Film Industry."

Further, it strongly requests the government to reconsider the decision of Kher's dismissal stating that no C.B.F.C. Chairman has ever been removed in the past irrespective of the Government who made his appointment.
