Rana Daggubati made an impressive debut with DUM MAARO DUM and is now currently busy shooting for Ram Gopal Varma's DEPARTMENT. What is common though in both films that Rana has done so far is cop, crime and drama. Though in DUM MAARO DUM he played a musician, his character did encounter cops. On the other hand in DEPARTMENT he is playing a cop himself.

"There is a difference though," Rana says, "DUM MAARO DUM was an action thriller while DEPARTMENT is more of a dramatic tale. Also, the way Rohan treated DUM MAARO DUM, it was a new genre altogether. On the other hand Ramu is shooting DEPARTMENT as a gritty affair and that too in real locations. His style of making a film is entirely different and I am extremely satisfied with the experience that I am gaining."

He further cheers up when the conversation veers towards him finding good acceptability in the industry with not just Ram Gopal Varma but even some other leading filmmakers showing good trust in his acting capabilities.

"Of course it is a great feeling when you get accepted", he gleams, "For that I have Rohan (Sippy) to thank for. He is the one who felt that I could deliver goods and roped in a newcomer like me. I have done Telugu films but Hindi was a new medium for me. Still he gave me a platform to learn and engage. And then with Ramu bringing me on for a film that has stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt is no mean deal. Undoubtedly I feel really fortunate."

Well, one look forward to seeing more of you young man!
