Riteish Deshmukh plays an innocent young man who possesses child like qualities in his Friday release ALADIN. However, he is the first to admit that he is unsure how audiences would react to his character.
"My character of 'Aladin' represents all those people who don't have courage to stand up in front of a bully or go to a girl and say 'I Love You'", says Riteish, "For me, it was difficult to be 'Aladin'. I had to be innocent in front of the camera and believe me; to portray innocence is very difficult. Sujoy was so particular about the way dialogues were delivered. I had to have a child like quality but not become childish. There is always a thin line when you have to perform within such boundaries."

Riteish is also candid enough to confess that in spite of him playing the title role of 'Aladin', it is 'Genie - The Genius' and 'Ringmaster' [played by Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt respectively] who are more audience friendly characters.
"'Aladin' and 'Genie' are just so opposite to each other. While one is innocent, another is flamboyant and bratty. On the other hand Ringmaster is someone who is a lovable villain. This further brings contrast between him and Genie", divulges Riteish, "As for my role of 'Aladin', there was only one way to play this character and this is how I did. Had I tried any other mannerisms, the entire dynamics of the film would have failed. Sujoy had worked hard on developing this character and was absolutely sorted on how I was to be presented on screen. It has to be seen how audiences react to my character since there is nothing spectacular about him."
