10th July, the day when Anil Kapoor's production SHORTKUT - THE CON IS ON is all set for release, would be one cluttered week when it comes to film releases. That's because there are as many as six films lined up for release on this day, courtesy the producers' strike due to which there was a large number of films that have lined up for release.

However, this Akshaye Khanna-Arshad Warsi-Amrita Rao film can take solace from the fact that except for a film or two, the others are very small films that have been in the cold storage for quite some time now and don't carry any buzz or hype around them.

So the only film which could still turn out to be a surprise entertainer of the season is SANKAT CITY which is directed by debutant Pankaj Advani and is a caper thriller. Starring the likes of Kay Kay Menon, Anupam Kher, Chunky Pandey and Rimmi Sen, the film isn't being publicized much but could well be a dark horse.

However, the same cannot be said about the other four releases of the week - MORNING WALK, DEKH BHAI DEKH, MOHAN DAS - A MAN LOST IN HIS OWN NATION and PERFECT MISMATCH. While MORNING WALK is still being promoted to some extent (more extensively at INO properties since it's their own production), the rest have yet to reach out to the audiences. Also, none of the four films are hardcore commercial and cater only to niche audiences, hence further allowing SHORTKUT - THE CON IS ON to have a free run at the box office.

This Neeraj Vora directed film would be wary though of KAMBAKKHT ISHQ which releases just a week before (3rd July). If this Akshay Kumar starrer clicks in a big way then it could well be a good enough competition even in its second weekend!
