The year gone by is an extra ordinary example of Bollywood churning out some rollicking songs, what with the movies that released in 2013, giving us many smash hit numbers. Be it the musical blockbuster AASHIQUI 2, rom-com YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI, out and out masala film R...RAJKUMAR, common man's treat CHENNAI EXPRESS or magnum opus GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA, all the films had the audience going gaga over the music. And why not? The films gave us many peppy dance numbers and some refreshingly soulful songs too!

Super-hit songs like 'Tum Hi Ho', 'Dilliwali Girlfriend', 'Lungi Dance', 'Tooh', 'Gandi baat', 'Laal Ishq', 'Kashmir Main Tu Kanyakumari', 'Party All Night' among many others took the listeners by storm and went on to become chartbusters. But more than the songs, the voices behind those songs impacted the most.

Though singers like Sonu Nigam, Vishal Dadlani, Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan, Benny Dayal among others gave some of the musical numbers, the major chunk of the smash hit songs were given by the three Singhs of the music industry namely, Mika Singh, Arijit Singh and Yo Yo Honey Singh.

While Mika has crooned some of the best party songs of Bollywood like 'Pungi' (AGENT VINOD), 'Ibn-e-Batuta' (ISHQIYA), 'Singh is King' (SINGH IS KING) among many others, the singer has added some more hit songs to his ever growing list. Mika's first hit song of the year was a high energy number Punjabi number 'Punjabiyan Di Battery Charge Rehndi Hai' (MERE DAD KI MARUTI), followed by 'Jaadu Ki Jhappi'(RAMAIYA VASTAVAIYA) and 'Tooh' (GORI TERE PYAAR MEIN). However, the best amongst all was the year's last song 'Gandi Baat' from Prabhu Dheva's Shahid Kapoor-Sonakshi Sinha starrer R...RAJKUMAR.

Following close to Mika Singh is Bollywood's latest singing sensation, Arijit Singh. Though Arijit has given some of the most soulful numbers like 'Raabta' (AGENT VINOD) and 'Sawaali Si Raat Hai' (BARFI) earlier, he rose to an altogether different height this year. For Arijit, the year started off with a bang with his first song 'Tum Hi Ho' becoming an all-time hit. This was followed by 'Dilliwali Girlfriend', 'Ilaahi' and 'Kabira' (reprise version) (YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI), 'Kashmir Main Tu Kanyakumari' (CHENNAI EXPRESS), 'Har Kisi Ko Nahi Milta' (BOSS), 'Laal Ishq' (GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA) and 'Kabhi jo Badal Barse' (JACKPOT). Interestingly the coming year looks promising for the singer, what with some of the best music composers lining up to work with him.

Punjabi rap king Yo Yo Honey Singh shot to instant fame with his rocking number 'Lungi Dance' from Shahrukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer CHENNAI EXPRESS. This was followed by 'Party All Night' from BOSS and his single 'Blue Eyes', that released last year. With Honey's latest songs 'Sunny Sunny' and 'ABCD' from yet to release film YAARIYAN already being termed as chartbusters, he indeed has a long way to go!

While one may agree to the fact that the year was dominated by the three male 'Singh'ers, but one cannot ignore the energetic singer Aditi Singh Sharma, who gave us two of the best club numbers of the year. Aditi, who has given some smash hits like 'Aali Re' (NO ONE KILLED JESSICA), 'Dheon Dheon' (MUJHSE FRAANDSHIP KAROGE) and 'Main Heroine Hoon' (HEROINE), rocked the year with 'Dhat Teri Ki' (GORI TERE PYAAR MEIN) and the sizzling hot number 'Dhoom Machale'.

The other Singh girl to have sung her first song in Bollywood last year is Akasa Singh. Akasa, who is a female vocalist with Mika Singh, got her first break with song 'Full Jhol' in Sunny Leone-Sachiin Joshi starrer JACKPOT. Though the film didn't do well, but it definitely added a Singh in the industry!
