Just last year, a medium budgeted film, JAB WE MET, made by another relatively new director, Imtiaz Ali, charmed the audience and had a prolonged run at the ticket window. It turned out to be one of the biggest hits of 2007. So, what's common to both the films, AAMIR and JAB WE MET?
Well, apart from them being dark horse successes (while pitted against much bigger oppositions), the one factor that is common to both is that they have been directed by youngsters from the mineral rich state of Jharkhand.
While the JAB WE MET director, Imtiaz Ali is from the steel city of Jamshedpur, the AAMIR director, Raj Kumar Gupta is from the coal belt rich Hazaribagh. So both are the new Bollywood assets from a relatively unheard place of Jharkhand, a state which till recently had only a Tanushree Dutta to boast of in Bollywood!
