When asked about her first of experience working with Rajinikanth, Sonakshi shared, “It was an amazing experience to work with a man like him. Rajini Sir has been around in the industry from such a long time yet he doesn’t carry any starry air. He is perhaps the only star who hasn’t changed a bit. He is the simplest man I have ever met.”
While she was extremely anxious to work alongside him for the first time, Rajinikanth was twice as nervous, since Sonakshi is his good friend Shatrughan Sinha’s beloved daughter.
“Yes I was nervous on the first day as to how will I do it and all. Interestingly, it was my second meeting with him. The first time I met was when I went along with my parents to Chennai and after that directly I was meeting him on the sets of LINGAA. So it was an altogether different feeling. In fact, Rajini sir was more nervous. When I approached him and shared that I am really nervous, he said, ‘You are my friend’s daughter so I’m all the more nervous to work with you,” Sonakshi said.
Ask her about stepping in south film industry with LINGAA and she says, “It was wonderful experience. It was a new industry, new language, new people, and new setup. I was really treated well and didn’t feel like it was my first film in south. Everybody was so supportive. I picked up the language and accent so very well, while saying my dialogues. My director, Rajini Sir and other people involved in the film were all happy with me. I don’t think I would’ve got a better debut in Tamil cinema.”
Does that mean she will continue working in south? “My first priority will always be Hindi Films. But if I get good offers, good script, I would really love to do more films there. South films are actually rich in content and they’ve got some amazing scripts, which is why so many films are remade here,” clears Sonakshi
Directed by KS Ravikumar, LINGAA also stars Anushka Shetty. The film, which is distributed by Eros International, is all set to hit the screens on December 12, 2014.
