It took close to 6 years before Zoya Akhtar could finally see her dream of making LUCK BY CHANCE turn into reality. At the brink if frustration, she moved on to write a different script altogether when LUCK BY CHANCE was failing to take off. However, 2008 saw the revival of the project and now she is ready with the film which is releasing all over this Friday.
''Yes, I was indeed getting frustrated due to delay in bringing LUCK BY CHANCE to the floors. I wanted to make it 5-6 years ago and had approached quite a few actors for the main lead. At that time, it suited them 'not' to be a part of it. They must be having their own reasons for saying No; so no grudges here'', says Zoya who then roped in her brother Farhan Akhtar to play the role of the central protagonist who is a struggler in LUCK BY CHANCE.
Try prodding her to name those who refused her offer and she says that there is no point talking about them. ''What I know is they felt that the character of the central protagonist won't go down well with the audience. Well, to each his own'', she simply nods.
CHECK OUT: I would call LUCK BY CHANCE a drama
Meanwhile she got busy working on another film of hers. ''I had to breach out to other projects. I was involved with other projects of Excel Entertainment as well but in the meanwhile, I was writing with Reema. Now she would be directing the film for our production house'', reveals Zoya.
So when does work begin on KISMAT TALKIES, another film that she had written and was about to begin shooting for before LUCK BY CHANCE happened?
''At the moment KISMAT TALKIES is pretty much on hold. After the release of LUCK BY CHANCE, I am taking a holiday. After that, even I don't know what I want to do'', laughs Zoya.
