Amid the flak faced by the upcoming Ishaan Khatter, Ananya Panday film ‘Khaali Peeli, the spelling of ‘Beyonce Sharma Jayegi’ has been reportedly changed to ‘Beyonse Sharma Jayegi’, to avoid any legal trouble.
The two lead actors of Khaali Peeli – Ishaan Khatter & Ananya Panday, the star kids, so to say, have been facing the music what with the nepotism debate sparked off in the wake of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death under unnatural circumstances. Khaali Peeli and its lead actors got heavily trolled as they released the poster.

They are saying that the lyrics promote racism or colourism of skin. The song has been composed by duo Vishal-Shekhar, and stars Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter. One user wrote, "The colourism is loud and clear it’s embarrassing." If that was not enough, the song ‘Beyonce Sharma Jayegi’ too trolled. So much so that the makers had to concede and change the title to ‘Beyonse Sharma Jayegi’.
The recent media reports also hint that the makers were considering a change in the lyrics of the song to avoid any legal trouble. The lyrics have been penned by Kumaar & Raj Shekhar, music composed by the Vishal-Shekhar duo and vocals by Nakash Aziz & Neeti Mohan. In the meanwhile, until that happens, the makers have changed the title of the song to ‘Beyonse Sharma Jayegi’. The change has been made in the song title, credits, etc.
Reportedly the makers had taken ‘permission’ from the international pop star Beyoncé to use her name in the song. However, the makers seem to have decided to play safe with regard to legalities around the same, since Beyoncé has trademarked her name.
Not just the use of the name or the nepotism flak but of being called out for being racist, with the use of the word ‘goriya’, meaning a fair woman, in the same line as the title of the song and that too when the anti-racism movement has been extremely strong with the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement globally. The song has received too may dislikes, as compared to a few likes.
The comedy-thriller is produced by Sultan fame Ali Abbas Zafar and directed by Maqbool Khan. Khaali Peeli is slated an OTT release on ZeePlex on October 2.
