My Client's Wife ShemarooMe Movie Review

My Client’s Wife’s movie review
Prabhakar Meena Bhaskar Pant’s experiment with thrills with dark psychological frills is unique in its approach. Following the old-school books of classic de noir’s, the movie is successful in holding the viewers’ attention almost to the very end.

The elements of the almighty legends like Hitchcock’s Psycho and Akira Kurosawa’s Rashomon are smartly used.

Prabhakar Meena Bhaskar Pant (I liked his short ‘Chumbak’) and the atmosphere is maintained here as well. The writer director is able to please the traditional fans of the genre and at the same time is able to underline his edge in the genre at certain points.

It’s very difficult to maintain the tension in a movie that has its major thrills and turns coming from a one single location.

Prabhakar Meena Bhaskar Pant keeps the loyal fans of this genre hooked by small touches from time to time.

Elaborating on the plot will mean a spoiler so I will now move to the performances.

Anjali Patil: MY CLIENT’S WIFE a true, mean suspense thriller

Anjali Patil is able to create a mystery around her and makes an impression in a difficult role. Sharib Hashmi is fantastic. Abhimanyu Singh adds to the tension and mystery whenever he appears on screen.

Special mention to the music and background by Sanchit Balhara is a must, it takes you back to those golden days of yore. Mazhar Kamran’s camerawork adds to the momentum.

Your strength can turn into your weakness. My Client’s Wife suffers from this phenomenon. Anjali Patil is a fine actress, but she is not that alluring seductress. The movie moves smoothly with tension maintained at a set level and pace but that sudden shock is missing. Like eating a tasty dish but not getting that lip-smacking tang.

Final words
My Client’s Wife is a welcome entry of ShemarooMe’s Box Office to the OTT platform. Thriller mysteries are the most popular genre in OTT and what better than a desi ode to Hitchcock’s Psycho via Akira Kurosawa’s Rashomon. Come on… go and get your thrills.
