BAAHUBALI effect: After 1000 core MAHABHARATA, 500 core RAMAYAN on cards

As expected, the historic success of S.S. Rajamouli’s epic fantasy inspired from Indian mythology has triggered a mega budget RAMAYANA in 3D after the recent announcement of MAHABHARATA worth 1000 crores.

Estimated to be made at a budget of 500 crores the three-part RAMAYANA will be shot in 3D.

According to reports, producers Allu Aravind, Madhu Mantena and Namit Malhotra are coming together to adapt the Indian mythological epic Ramayana for the big screen. The mythological will be released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.

Allu Aravind has been quoted saying, “It's a huge responsibility but the RAMAYANA needs to be told on the big screen in the most magnificent way possible. We are committed to delivering a spectacular extravaganza.'

Producer Namit Malhotra has reportedly added, “Three generations of my family have been in the movies and we have a world-leading capability in bringing such stories to life. There cannot be a better time and opportunity to tell the greatest Indian story to the world in a way that preserves its respect and vision.”

Namit Malhotra’s company Prime Focus has handled the VFX of movies like STAR WARS, TRANSFORMERS, Allu Aravind has produced blockbusters like MAGADHEERA directed by S.S. Rajamouli, while Madhu Mantena has produced QUEEN, GHAJINI etc.

Interestingly the maverick S.S. Rajamouli has already showed his interest in making something like MAHABHARATA in future and the perfectionist Aamir Khan has been on record expressing his desire to be part of MAHABHARATA on big screen.

The challenge for RAMAYANA is epic and let’s see who surpasses the benchmark set by S.S. Rajamouli.
