Need for reviving cinema in Kashmir

The residents of Kashmir indeed would be feeling anguished that after a long-long time a film-ROCKSTAR was shot extensively in Kashmir, but they cannot see their heaven unfold itself on the silver screen as Kashmir does not show any cinema in the cinema halls. Neelam cinema hall, which was the oldest cinema hall, downed its shutters more than a year ago and there was no protest or a murmur of dissent against its closure.

ROCKSTAR & the transformation of the character through change of the name

It indeed is one of the apparent paradoxes of Indian cinema or for that matter Indian society per se that if there is a character being played by him in a film and it has an element of rustiness associated with its name itself, as it was in ROCKSTAR where the transformation of the character or rather his acceptance into the high society only materializes when he changes the name. So when Janardhan Jakhar was renamed as Jordan, he immediately got acceptance into the high society. Indeed, the paradox becomes more so apparent considering the fact that those who portray the characters of high society have names that are as esoteric as one could think off, as it was Heer Kaul for the character played by Nargis Fakhri.

Rockstars of Bollywood

On the occasion of immersion of ashes of the original rockstar of Hindi cinema Shammi Kapoor in Kashmir literally who's who of the Hindi film industry had congregated to soak in the ambience of the occasion, or rather to pay tribute to the genius who in all sense of terms made the country groove to the music. Shammi Kapoor was considered the original rock star as his body grooved to the beats of the music, he was the film star who did not require a choreographer to move on the floor, his sense of rhythm and timing was so perfect that the beats and the sounds of the music created an ambience of seamless flow in his body as well.
