Excerpts from the interview

As the film is about live-in relationship, would you ever get into a live-in relationship?
To each its own, I have no idea if I will go for a live-in, and I think it is completely okay and it should not be judged.

What are your views on marriage?
Everyone has the right to marry when they feel like marrying, when it really feels right. The family where I come from, I am not sure if my parents would be okay with it but I also know that my parents have given me enough freedom to marry when I want to and marry who I want to and take my time. I have told my parents clearly that I won’t ever do an arrange marriage, I need to be in love and want to know a person really well. That’s when it comes from within that ‘this is the person’. They are okay with it. Whenever you love someone, you have to love them for who they are, it cannot be related to their past. Everyone has a past. I won’t judge someone for their past, even I have a past.

Why do you think maximum movies now days are based in small towns?
Small town flavors have something relatable. You can relate to the characters.

Did Kartik being the part of the film influenced you?
It’s always the film and the character that first connects with you. Of course he is apt for the role so that is a great advantage for the film.

Do you feel the competition and does that bother you?
Lots of them but I feel Alia Bhatt is great because of the kind of work she has done. Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma are fabulous. So many guys also, like Ranveer Singh, Sushant Singh Rajput, Kartik Aaryan, Rajkummar Rao, Vicky Kaushal, all of them are really talented.

What’s your idea of a romantic date?
I don’t cook but I am a foodie. My idea of a romantic meal is very filmy, by the beach with amazing food and a glass of wine with old songs or live music playing and scented candles.
