TANHAJI Ajay approaches super hit, Deepika’s CHHAPAAK is average!

The new release of the week, Luv Ranjan and T-Series’ Sunny Singh and Sonali Seygull starrer JAI MUMMY DI, failed to appeal the audience (they preferred the week old TANHAJI!) in a big way as it opened to a 10 percent occupancy.

Meanwhile the clash between Ajay-Saif’s historical TANHAJI – THE UNSUNG HERO and Deepika Padukone’s acid attack biopic CHHAPAAK turned to be totally one sided in favour of the former and the gap kept on increasing as the week progressed.

Coming to the details, after good 60 crore during the opening weekend, TANHAJI saw a rock steady run and ended with 116-117 crore during the week. The film is sure to end up as a super hit.

On the other hand CHHAPAAK saw a fair 19-20 crore weekend but could not build on it netting 28-29 crore at the end of the first week and the best case scenario for it will be an average fare. What must be kept in mind is that TANHAJI has a budget of 100 crore while same figure for CHHAPAAK is 35 crore.

Concluding with Dharma Productions’ Akshay, Kareena, Diljit and Kiara starrer, GOOD NEWWZ, the film added another 15 crore, thus netting 192 crore (to be validated) at the end of the third week. There are bright chances that the super hit GOOD NEWWZ may just about touch the 200 crore mark.
